Nikon rebates

I would be interested in hearing form other people who have had trouble collecting on the rebates advertised by Nikon. I bought a D70 in early January and filed for the rebate ASAP. Nikon's website now disavows any knowledge of my rebate on their website and have not answered my e-mails of inquiry. They do not list a phone number and the retailer has had other complaints but can't do anything. I suspect this to be a widespread problem because of their lack of communication with me. Any others out there?

I too purchased a D70 outfit the first week of february. I followed their directions to the T. I have seen nothing to date.

At that time the rebate was $200.00

Same here. Most discouraging is that it's five weeks after I mailed it & they don't even acknowledge that they've received the paperwork. I'll give them sometime for backlog (overworked/overburdened?) -- but entering a few lines of text into a database shouldn't take that long. Or did everyone in America buy a Nikon this year?

mailed in rebate mid February and 5 emails later nothing, no Rebate, no response.

I have had the same problem. However, I did recieve an email telling me that they hadn't received anything after I finally contacted them. Then they requested I fax them the information. Then I get a snail mail me telling me to send the original...duh...it went the first time I sent the stuff!

I mailed in a $100.00 rebate January 13, it said it would take at least 6 weeks. In March I happen to remember the rebate and checked the website and it said it was sent out Feb. 3 with the check number. I would remember getting it that early if I did get it, it was $100.00. I emailed them and told them I never received it and they said the check was cashed on Feb. 15, I didn't even do any banking that day, I was out of town! They said they would send a copy of the check, since then I haven't heard a thing , they don't return my emails either. This is getting very frustrating! I just keep emailing the same girl everyday.

I called this number and spoke with a real person (hit 4 after connecting) 800-NIKONUS (800-645-6687). They were very helpful and told me one check had already been cut and the second one was in process. We will see! He also gave me the number to the rebate center, 631-547-4369.

I sent my rebate claim form and all required information via certified mail on June 10 and received requested return receipt showing that it was received by Don Jagoda Associates on June 14, 2005. Inquired about 6 weeks later through nikonusa.com/rebatecenter and through Nikon 800 number. Finally received response on by email on August 9, 2005 from [email protected] stating that they did not receive my rebate claim (even though I had return receipt showing they had received it on June 14). The instructed me to fax the required information to them which I did including copy of original claim form and copies of all materials that I submitted to them. Then received email today (August16) stating that they received my fax but did not receive the required information. So now I have submitted all of the required information twice and they want me to now make a high quality photocopy of the len's plate showing the serial number. Sure sorry I bought the lens. At this point, I am in the process of filing complaints against Nikon, Don Jagoda Associates and Click Camera with FTC, New York and Ohio Attorney General Office and BBB.

Similar experience. I bought a D70 May 8, 2005 and sent paperwork within the week. Repeated inquiries on their website got similar responses of "No status results were found matching your search criteria. Either we did not receive your rebate or it is in the process of being entered in our system. Please check back periodically." I called the 800 number 8/29/05 and was able to talk with a human who told me to mail certain photocopies of serial numbers/UPC, etc which I did the following day. Internet inquiries now have not produced any different results. I emailed complaints twice and got acknowledgement for each. Frustrating.

Hello. Yes, I am having trouble with my D70 rebate. In July, I sent two separate rebate requests in two separate envelopes 1) for a 300mm lens, and 2) for the D70 outfit. Nikon sent me a $50 rebate for the lens but claimed to have never received the (more valuable, naturally) D70 rebate request. I've just faxed Nikon and "Don Jagoda" the requested evidence of my original transaction, including a high contrast scan of my camera plate and serial #. We shall see.

Same for me. I sent my rebate four months ago and still nothing. Very disapointed by Nikon. Is it worth to participate in the class action?

Sounds like a scam going on to me. I too sent in all of the required forms after purchasing a COOLPIX E8700 digital camera. The $50 rebate never showed up - even after a four month wait. Made contact with Nikon by e-mail. Received their boilerplate e-mail response of having never received my claim form and supporting documentation. Did you notice that they don't want anyone to reply to their notification e-mail? They flatly state that they won't respond. I personally think that a class action suit is in order here. I rather doubt that submitting a photo of the camera plate and serial # will have any impact here. These people are just not going to pay the rebate. Nikon will never get any of my business again.

Just got the call from Loraine at Nikon; my check's in the mail!!
It only took 12 months and 3 entries, and yes, they lost my paperwork and UPC submission, bbut persistence paid off! Or will pay off when the check clears ;)

As a professional photographer I have purchased many items from Nikon that have offered a rebate...their service has always been excellent.

Three words: CLASS ACTION SUIT! Are any of you out there lawyers or happen to know of one that is can handle this?

Let's face it, Nikon will never stop this scam unless they are made to pay for it dearly.

Something very wierd is going on here. I sent in my rebate stuff over a year ago for a coolpix5400. They have made me jump through several hoops since then, including sending photos of the serial number of my camera. I've gotten a couple of E-mails but no confirmation of their following up. They claim to have no record of my initial rebate app. So then why wasn't it returned to me in the mail?

Tue, 25 Apr 2006 18:40:48 -0700

Well I didn't buy a D70, although it will probably be my next camera (maybe), but I DID buy a Nikon 5400 with a $200.00! rebate, this was about a year ago. After MANY calls, faxes and remailings I have NO rebate, this is absolutely not acceptable and should be looked into further if this many people are having the same problem, this is obviously deceptive advertizing. For this reason alone I may not buy a Nikon ever again despite my satisfaction with the product. They are burning bridges here in a super competetive market, not smart.

I purchased a Nikon digital camera last december, and bought a "free printer w/ it w/ mail in rebate" the printer was $150, and I was supposed to get $100 of rebates from Epson, which I got (after a LONG time and a lot of phone calls), but I still have yet to receive my $50 rebate from Nikon.

I purchased a Nikon Coolpix digital camera last December, 2005. I bought a "free" picture printer with it for $150. I was suppposed to receive three $50 rebates to cover the $150, two from Epson, and one from Nikon. I received the rebates from Epson, but never from Nikon. I called several times and was always told that my check was in the mail. When I checked my status online, it would always say pending. Well I never received my $50 from Nikon. I got real busy w/ med school and didn't have time to keep checking on it. I just called and checked on line, and they say they have no record of ever receiving a rebate form from me, the same number I called months ago that told me my check was in the mail. This is f*ing scam and they need to be called out on it.

I think I'm going to sound like a broken record.... "original form not received... copies not acceptable". Of course, now that they have "lost" my original yellow form, I'm just out of luck. How do you prove you sent the original yellow form? NIKON is in need of an angry mob at their door with a lawyer to slap them into honesty in dealing with their paying customers. I can't believe they are trying to dodge their offers of rebates on their own equipment. What a sleezy company.

ALL rebates will be honored and paid if you follow a rather complicated procedure.

1. Ensure you follow EVERY requirement of the rebate; triple check!!

2. Keep copies of EVERYTHING.

3. Mail the rebate "Registered", so you get back a signed card to prove they received it.

4. Wait two weeks longer than the time period specified on the rebate form.
Check their webiste or call their 800 number only once.

If you don't receive the rebate by then, send a "Registered" letter to the Home Office of the vendor, with the following information:

A) Inform them you have a signature card, signed by "XXXX" on "Date".

B) Advise them you conformed to every requirement of their rebate, and you expect them to conform to the check delivery dates specified on their rebate form.

C)Tell them that if you have not received your check within 21 days of the date they receive this letter, you will be forced to file complaints with the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General in the State of your residence, and in the State of their Home Office.

D) State that if you have not received you check within 60 days of the date they receive this letter, you will consider filing a claim in Small Claims Court.

This has worked for me DOZENS of times, and has NEVER failed. It's a lot of work, but it would seem that's the way they want to "play the game".

I, too, never received my rebate after mailing all the documentation for my D70 promptly, a year ago. Have recently been told to fax documentation to them, I did, and was told they never received it. Faxed it again, and now they can't read the photos of the camera that reveal the serial number. Very frustrating.

You are not alone ! I have been a loyal Nikon fan for more then 30 years.
I have owned and own most of Nikon photography products. About 15 years
ego I purchased a Nikon f4s and gear most had rebates I only got rebate for one
lens was the lowest on the rebates. after many complains I have never heard form them .
Now I have the same problem I bought a 17-55 DX lens and was expecting a $40 rebate
they are claiming that they never got my rebate form ? and after calling all this phone numbers there is no solution !
I don't know what to do ! it is very tempting to switch to Canon like most Nikon user did
but I like Nikon gear . I was wondering if we can take Nikon to court ? SHAME ON NIKON .

Same problem here. I plugged in my serial #'s for my rebate items and someone elses' name came up for camera items that are mine with my serial #'s and in my possession right in front of me. I think the info got hacked, stolen, sold, whatever, who cares but someone is trying to steal our rebates. Keep contacting Nikon and let them know. My items came up as check pending disbursal. I'm going to call until I get someone and alert them. No way it's a mistake. One item maybe: but not all threee of my items and serial #'s with rebates going to the same named person.

FYI
I know people that work in the Rebate department and in no way are they trying to scam anyone. Things happen! For instance. During the D70 rebate program they got totally slammed. I am in no way saying that we all should accept that e-mails that went unanswered. Lots of paperwork was never delivered by the Post Office(over 600 letters) during a specific time frame and that is why customers were asked to fax, scan, take photos etc to help get the rebate issues resolved.
Like the above e-mail said MAKE COPIES OF EVERYTHING, that way you have a record of what you sent & READ ALL REQUIREMENTS MORE THAN ONCE!!!!

It took me a while to get my rebate as well, but the reason was that I forgot to send part of what they needed. Once I sent the rest of the info, my check arrived.
For those who still are waiting call 800-438-8782 during normal business hours 8:30am - 4:45pm Eastern Monday - Friday and you will get a real person (unless they are out to lunch) Make sure you leave a message with your name spelled correctly a phone#,product & the serial number of one of the products purchased. This way they will be able to look up your info before they call you back.

Also, if you go on the www.nikonrebates.com site and put your serial number in and it shows another person, the reason is, serial numbers can be duplicated, however not within the same items(Exception there was an issue w/the D70 which is now fixed) For example you can buy a Coolpix w/serial# 12324 and another person can buy an N80 with that same serial number, that is why when you call the 800# always state your name, product and serail number.

Hope this helps! And remember call the 800# 800-438-8782 and be nice to the customer service agent that takes your call, they are there to help you get your rebate. Killem with kindness I always say..They know that you are upset but they are there to help.

same story sent rebate info in on a pair of nikon binoculars nothing back and links to rebate center go nowhere. A great product and the rebate is a nice closing tool for the purchase who would suspect a quality company like nikon would skimp out on a 50.00 rebate.

Bought a Nikon 8x42 Monarch bino last Oct. Made copies of all receipts, forms and UPC codes, then mailed it off to the Nikon rebate address at Cinnaminson, NJ.
Since then, I've not had any acknowledgment from Nikon and its way past the 6 weeks that's supposed to be the approximate time for it to be processed.
I relised that I did not buy the binoculars because of the rebate, but the rebate was offered by Nikon nevertheless, and since I went to the trouble of filling up the form and submitting it together with all the required paperwork, then I think that I should be receiving a $50 rebate check from Nikon. If not, then Nikon has just cheated me. Right?
