BlowOutCameras.com...Don't purchase from them!

Hi all!

YIKES! I was wondering about this place, as they have some incredible prices!!!

I had a strange feeling about the pace I went to, "BlowOutCameras.com" & glad I didn't place an order!

Geeze! The first clue (kinda) was their prices were SO low and some stuff was free AND their web site was glitchy... BUT I've seen that before from VERY reputable companies -

The next red flag was the server was so darn slow! No business would have their server running so slow! They'd have an auto "out-of-service" and a tech backing it up getting a call at 1 or 2 am immediately if they were really having a problem!!!

Then, on a "Whois" search on register.com, not only was the camera place listed under a private company that if you look them up, that's what they do is hide people's identities, but if they are doing it for a business to rip people off, they can be held liable (At least here in the US...) THEN I looked up the domain is "everyprice.com", which is supposedly a place for consumers to get together and rate places I'm guessing from what I read above!?!)

Well, needless to say this place also is registered, but with a Canadian company, so it is likely that they are one in the some, and as slow as that server was running, it could be a PI or PII (Or perhaps even a 486 machine)in someone's garage for criminies sake!

Glad I used an alternate email address to "register" as well as an incorrect B-Day... Why would someone need the year of your birth in order for you to place an order (their website calls for it!)

IF you really want to report a company, PLEASE use the BBBs, business licensing agencies AND companies like bizrate.com, etc. as those places seem to be on the up and up as far as I'm concerned and I do a LOT of shopping on-line. BBBs don't generally post anything on the web unless there has been a conviction of some sort, prolly for fear of being sued if they say anything wrong, BUT people's sites like Bizrate and the many others out there (LIKE THIS ONE!), can be VERY helpful in steering would-be victims away from those who are bad news!

Thanks to everyone who took the time to post your stuff here! :)
I kinda figured, but thought I'd pass along my thoughts as well...

Sharing this kind of info, and being diligent when we see something that doesn't look right by checking it out is SO important!

If you've been ripped off, then by ALL means spread it on every SCAM site you can find on-line!

If you are shopping at a new place on-line, PLEASE check out ratings on reputable websites and do a google search with the company name, address, etc. AND the words "scam" "rip-off" and so on, and when not sure about some place, then it'll prolly be WELL worth the time and effort to stick with a place you know and trust1

These types of reports help the Internet be a safer place for us all!:) Thanks!

Ya'll just saved me a likely rip-off and hassle!

There is a computer/electronics place in Long Beach, CA that does the same sort of thing, sent me used computer parts, etc. & showed up on pricewatch.com with another name about every month or so... Many people got little to nothing, they threatened to sue if I charged something back, etc. Looks like this is the east coast version of the very same thing!

Thanks Ya'll! :)

Have a GREAT day and keep up the good hunting!

so yeah, i'm an idiot apparently bc i just placed an order w/blowoutcameras for a tv that was waaaaaay too good to be true, but i tried to get in on it thinking maybe it was a price mistake they'd honor. only afterwards did i think about researching it. well, w/that said, i've gone ahead and just cancelled my credit card # altogether. told them that i just gave up a lot of information on a potentially phishy site. also emailed them twice to cancel the order since conveniently their phones are down.

I came across a crazy low price for a Hasselblad system. I called to verify the price. The number was disconnected. According to 411, no such business exists at their given address. Yeh, it's a scam. And, the business is supposedly based in Canada, where fraud is treated with leniency by the law.

Was anybody's credit card actually charged by blowoutcameras.com without receiving the merchandise?

Yeah, same situation for me. Bought 2 external hard drives from them and never got them, but have yet to be charged.

On October 9th I ordered a DSLR for $14.60 and a lens for just under $28. They say in the ordering policy, if you call the credit company and put a block on the order they'll charge an additional $50. Huh? Do they actually expect to get that? Anyway, I called for a new bank card in case they decide to suck my account dry. A question I've seen asks if anybody has not received and not been charged. I signed on tonight to see if anybody HAS gotten anything out of them.

I did not receive the camera that I ordered, nor was I charged for it. About 2 months later, I believe the owner of blowoutcameras.com used my debit card information to make fraudulent purchases at various online stores.

I believe that the owner (or a "business partner" of the owner) of blowoutcameras.com is:

Carlos Adrian Torres
13703 Adele Lane
Jamul, CA 91935
(619) 656-6784

This is based on what I discovered was the Shipping Address of the unauthorized transactions.
