Chieh:
I've purchased your book online (though won't arrive until April 2nd) as well as printed out Chapter 1 from the publisher's website as you suggested. However I have a problem. I need a 3/32 submini phone jack wired to at least two digital cameras within a few days (by this Saturday). I have no experience working with electronics. Can you recommend somebody in the Boston area for the job? The cameras are a Kodak C310 and a Kodak C315. The jacks will be fitted with the 2.5mm bayonet plugs of factory-made bite switches. Of course, I'll pay for the work.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Scott,
Maybe a local camera repair shop could help you out. You'll have to find a local shop with their own camera repair master. It won't help if they send out the cameras for repair.
If you explain what you want to do to the master, like how you explained it to me (perhaps even showing him the relevant sections in HDC chapter 1), the master might be able to modify your cameras for you.

Hi Chieh,
I'm a photographer about to shoot a big job for Nikon. The job involves shooting with one of there new point and shoot cameras. They want POV photos with this camera. I want to be able to rig a few cameras and fire them remotely. The cameras will be rigged to bikes, kayaks, skateboards, etc. There is no interval timer or remote on this camera. If this something I could pay you to do? I was reading the first chapter of your book, and I'm not sure I'm tech saavy enough to pull this off in time. Please let me know. I would need to get the cameras done ASAP.
Thanks for you time.
Best,
Jon Humphries

Title: Switch question
Weblog: Camera Hacker
Excerpt: Is there any way to get a 2.5mm bayonette input plug into a point-and-shoot digital camera? It seems only higher-end pro cameras have remote control jacks. I want to operate a $100-200 point-and-shoot camera with a Conceptus bite switch. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Title: Kodak C310 - disabling auto-power off
Weblog: Camera Hacker
Excerpt: I found a fellow in the Boston area who, following instructions in your book, hacked a jack into a point-and-shot camera (Kodak C310) so I can fire the shutter with a bite switch. However I have a new problem not addressed in your book. Kodak P&S cameras have an "auto-power off" feature where by . . .

Title: Replacing shutter switch with jack?
Weblog: Camera Hacker
Excerpt: Another problem has arisen. Most of the cameras -- 6 megapixels or larger -- are too compact , once the case is removed, to attach jack wires (forget an internal jack). To solve this space problem, can the shutter release button (switch) be removed and replaced by a 3/32 sub mini jack or equiv . . .
