DCR-TRV350 compatibility with Dell Latitude and Win XP

I have tried to hook up this camera to my Dell Latitude 600, Win XP PRO via USB with no luck. I've reinstalled the driver 3 or 4 times and USB Streaming in enabled on the camera. Has anyone else had Dell or XP compatibility issues?

get a firewire card for pc (cheap)
firewire/dv/ilin cable for camera to pc connection.
download avid free version
or get a mac
