Sony DCR camcorder doesnt allow PC to camcorder transfer

The Sony DCR SR40 camcorder has a problem.
You can transfer the movie from the camcorder to the PC.
But you cannot transfer a movie from the PC to the camcorder.
So I cannot watch the movies on the TV, if I moved them to the PC for storage. This is very bad.

Does anyone know a way around this?

Not even with the Firewire port and cable?

Thanks for the response, Chieh.
Actually I CAN transfer the movie to the camcorder but it doesnt recognise the file, so the movie cannot be played by the camcorder or on the TV.

You see, after a I record a movie on the camcorder, I can connect it to a TV and watch it. Everything ok.
BUT, if I store that movie on my PC, and then later bring it back to the camera, I cannot watch it anymore, because camcorder doesnt recognise it anymore.

Therefore, I cannot play my movies on the TV. Camcorder only plays recent movies.

Thanks for any help

Please explain how you transfer the movie. Did you use an USB cable or a Firewire cable? Did you use the camcorder as if it's a hard drive and move video file to it from your computer?

Yes, I moved the movie file, by drag and drop, to the hard drive of the camcorder.

Thats obviously the problem. But there doesnt appear any way around it.

The Sony camcorder software only allows transfer one-way. From the camcorder to the PC, but not the reverse direction. Thats the problem.

Thanks

Brian, refer the following link.
http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/documentLink.do?externalI . . .
In order to transfer the videos from the Computer to the Camcorder, the Camcorder must have the INPUT port on it.
As this Camcorder is not having the INPUT port on it, it is not possible to transfer the videos from the Computer to the Camcorder.
