Canon Mark III "busy" when connected to USB

I'm having an issue if I switch on my Canon EOS 5D Mark III when it's connected to my computer via USB: the camera doesn't respond to any button and the color display is off. A "busy" message appears on the LCD display.

The camera works fine again if I disconnect the USB.

If the camera is already on and then I connect the USB, the camera works fine.

Has anyone experienced the same issue? I need to use the camera while it's connected to the USB.

Thanks very much!
