Canon Powershot G9 language change

I have just bought a new Canon Powershot G9 from an eBay seller. The listing neglected to say that the camera is set up for sale in Oriental markets; all on-screen displays are in Japanese, Chinese and other oriental languages. A CD English manual is on order but how do I change the on-screen language? Is there a firmware download? Any advice will be appreciated.

Thanks in anticipation!

I'm sorry to have bothered the CameraHacker community with my request for help which was obviously too banal to merit any response.

But,just in case anyone else with the same problem seeks assistance here I would direct them to the Canon USA website where they will be able to download the User's Manual for the PowerShot G9. This has clear instructions on how to change the display language, a slightly fiddly operation but no problem at all.

Thank you.

Don't take it personal, Hindpool. The community is relatively small. Sometimes it takes days before someone, who knows the solution to the problem, to come along and respond to your message.

The rest of us, who know nothing about the G9, would rather refrain from posting consolation messages that doesn't solve your problem.

I'm glad you found the solution for yourself and you were helpful enough to post the solution. I am sure someone else will come along and will be grateful that you shared your answer. Hats off from me personally.

Thanks Cheng; your comments are appreciated and I apologise for appearing to be somewhat waspish in my second message.

Good luck!

Hey guys,

I think ive found a way -

Click the 'Menu' Button
- press right on the control wheel, to the settings tab (what will show as a little hammer and spanner)
- press down on the control wheel 15 times
- press right on the control wheel to enter what should be the language menu
- Mines had to options, english and japanese (both written in Japanese!)
- I tried both of these options, one of them happened to be English!
- Done!

Good luck
