changing CCD response

Hi Chieh

I have a challenge for you. I am working on a new photographic project which requires some sophisticated camera hacking. I will need to hack a high-resolution digital SLR (Canon 350D or 20D).

Basically there are a few steps:

1. I need to alter the response of CCD so that instead of recording an image on all pixels, it records just a single vertical line of pixels in the centre of the CCD ie. just one pixel wide, and 2000 high.

2. then I need to record an image off those 2000 pixels several hundred times a second so that I end up with thousands of 1x2000 pixel images.

How would I go about beginning something like this?

And can you alter the response of the CCD in this way or is it hardware rather than firmware-based?
