dismantling canon g1 camera and problems

i had a problem with the lcd screen of my g1, and it wasnt worth getting repaired,so I dismantled it and found a broken wire, soldered it and then re-assembled it.
when i got the camera together, and it went through the initialization, i found only the menu, jump and up buttons worked. I had problems with one of them mefore.
I then bought a non-functioning camera, and swapped the cpu and button circuits but these didnt make any difference.
does anyone have a suggestion?
