Coolpix 5700 Remote Shutter release

Hello all,

I'm trying to do long exposure shots of lightning storms as they roll in. I've figured out the settings (M, bulb) to accomplish this so that I can reset the shutter after every few good flashes. However, I can't help but jiggle the camera when holding my finger on the shutter release button. So, I'm looking for a remote shutter release that will allow me to control long exposure shots. It'd be nice if the remote would also allow me to take remote shots of myself as I've been trying to make a portrait style photo of me and my dog and can't get her set in the 9 s given by the timer.

So, long question short, what's the most economical/effective remote shutter control for the Coolpix 5700? I've seen nothing but bad reviews for the MC-EU1 by Nikon and don't want to spend the $150-$200 needed to properly adapt the digisnap controller. Any other options? Thx
