anyone know how to use the shutter remote from behind the D50. Is there some other way to activate the shutter i.e. hard wired button?

It's an IR remote, right? You can try putting a mirror in front of the camera (or just in front of the IR sensor).

It's done. I tried to use a small mirror but I didn't like how it worked so I made my own. Things I used: 1/4-20 thread rod, adjustable indicator base, 1/4-20 coupling nuts, .060" aluminum plate and shrink tube. This mounts to my tripod and moves with the camera. sorry for the bad pic it was with my wife's old camera. Hope you like it Chieh.

Yah, that's a great implementation. So what kind of photos are you shooting with that rig?

I set it up to take pics of the different birds at my nine bird feeders, and the other wildlife around. My next thing when mother nature lets me I'm going to try my hand at lightning. I did do some art type pics of cars going down the high way at night with an open shutter to get light steaks. I'm new to my D50 so I'm still experimenting with it. I love my wife, it's the best thing she ever bought for me.
