Partial WEB message....
It has come to our attention that in a limited number of COOLPIX 3100, 5700 and SQ digital cameras, an electronic component may, in some instances, fail affecting your camera's performance and/or operability.

My 5700 worked fine for last 3 ys but suddenly it stopped working. Everything seems to be fine but I cannot see any picture from the view finder or in the slide viewer. No matter what setting I change, it does not seem to work. I even set it on default but no result. Can any one tell me what action I need to take to rectify this problem.

Thanks,

Kumar

This is a very well known problem and it seems to be a "Bug" or a weakness of that camera - see also the Nikon Forums.
I had exactly the same problem (after I had the camera for 3 months only ...) I had to send the camera in for repair - there's no other way - unfortunately. But after repair the camera works perfect. P.S Its a US model - but I've sent it to repair in Europe.

One more!! My 5700 worked fine for last 3 ys but suddenly it stopped working too. Everything seems to be fine but I cannot see anything from the view finder or in the slide viewer.

It seems this Nikon has a bug that more people have already found.
