Has anyone noticed anoying Orb (or globes) appearing in your pictures? At first
these artifacts appeared at random and I thought there were particles of dust between the lenses or even within the glass. I did some problem determination and narrowed the problem to the location of the flash with the lens. I've had the camera replaced 3 times as a result of this (plus 1 time for leaking and 1 time for missing lens frame). I've come to the conclusion that the sw1030 has a design defect. I attached a sample picture taken at the store that I bought the camera.
If you haven't seen this in any of your pictures, here's an easy way to reproduce the problem:
1. enable the flash
2. stamp on a carpet several times
3. take a snapshot as close to the ground as possible where you just stamped
I've had a couple of other problems with this camera, it leaked and stopped working and the frame around the lens broke off (I have a skin and floating strap for protection, but that didn't help).
So far, Henry's has a been great... but they warned me that I only have 3 weeks to get it replaced from now. I'll have to send it to Olympus for repairs. Good thing I paid the extra $75 for the extended warranty. I know the Orb problem will never go away.
I got this camera in March and had it replaced 5 times (not a good record). I've been on several trips and have been careful with the camera. The only reason I'm sticking with it is that I'm hoping that I finally got rid of a lemon (other than the Orb problem) and realy like the fact that I can take it to the beach.
