Olympus Stylus Tough 8010 -- The Upstanding Digital Camera

The Olympus Stylus Tough-8010 is the latest "Tough" series digital camera released by Olympus. The shockproof, waterproof, crushproof, and freeze-proof body of this camera makes it an outstanding one amongst the family of digital cameras. Olympus has designed the interior and exterior body of this camera in such a way that, it can be able to survive even it is dropped from a height of 5 feet and it is capable of withstanding a pressure of 220 pounds. Its waterproof quality helps the users to capture photos even at a depth of about 33 feet underwater and this camera can be used in areas having temperatures as low as 14 degrees Fahrenheit or -10 degrees Celsius, which is enabled by its freeze-proof quality.

It comes with A 2.7 inch Hyper-Crystal-III LCD display which has a resolution of 230,000 dots and thus it makes the Olympus Tough-8010 the sole option for framing and reviewing images, since there is no optical viewfinder provided in this model. The exterior of this camera is made up of a combination of a 1/2.33 inch type image sensor of 14 megapixels along with an Olympus-branded 5x optical zoom lens. The zoom lens has a useful 28mm wide-angle. This camera has many exciting features which make it more special. Olympus Stylus Tough-8010 features true mechanical image stabilization which is an important feature that helps in forming one half of the "Dual Image Stabilization" system With "Digital Image Stabilization" being the other half.

Stylus 8010 includes an unusual feature called Tap Control. It contains a 3D accelerometer in its body which gets used as an input for allowing different patterns of taps. The double tap feature turn on the camera flash or it get used for shadow adjustment function. It has a contrast-detection autofocus system feature as well. It bears face detection function which detects up to 12 faces in a single scene. The face detection function contains autofocus and auto exposure systems in it. It detects the subject face when the subject crossed the frame once. There are 19 scene modes available with this camera. The in-camera image editing is also possible with this camera. The user can resize images, correct red eye and adjust the exposure problems as well. Stylus Tough-8010 smoothly captures two more photos with ease.

A larger panoramic picture up to 10 images can be created using the software included. It captures high definition movies at 720 pixels resolution. The playback of the video can be controlled by using the TV remote. The images can be transferred to PC by using the high speed USB 2.0 connection. It uses LI-50B Lithium Ion rechargeable battery for power. The internal memory of the camera is 1588 MB. It uses SD and newer SDHC memory cards for storage purpose. The Olympus Stylus Tough-8010 is available around the rate of 400 US Dollars.
