The Olympus Stylus Tough 6010 is a Real Tough Cookie

This camera is pretty awesome if you are looking to buy a point and shoot that you expect to beat up a bit. I think it might be a great option for a lot of people that like to take there amateur light photo equipment back packing. Mind you this thing is no artists tool it is mainly like so many other cameras in this genre a device to save your memories with photos.

That said this camera does offer some pretty cool features and is a pretty solid buy. Just think you with this camera you can capture your favorite moments of life that happen in temperatures up to -10 degrees. You can also swim down up to a reported three meters. I wonder if you can combine the two and take some pictures of your blue friends swimming around in the icy ocean in Antarctica. Seriously I would probably never use any of these, but you never know where life will take and it nice to know you have a quality camera that will be there when you need it.

This Olympus Stylus Tough 6010 is basically the same as the 6000 tough series, but the only difference is that they have increased the megapixels to 12mp. This is really cool because you can make some poster prints that will retain the crispness of smaller digital photos. The lens in this Olympus camera is really nice. It starts out at 28mm and has a 3.6x zoom at the touch of a button. There are some pretty cool features that can be fun to play with like the fish eye lens effect and the pin hole effect that makes it look like you took the picture from an old fashioned pin hole camera. All these effects were labeled under magic filter and there were a lot more that I didn't get a chance to try out.

The screen on the back is large at 2.7 inches and looks really good. I noticed that the colors were vibrant and clear. Also you could see the picture clearly from a greater angle than my older Olympus camera.

All in all this camera is pretty cool, but the tough feature to me weren't that interesting. One thing I thought was kind of funny was the fact that it says it is shock resistant up to 5 ft ,but pretty much everyone I know is taller than that so it makes it not that special. The lens is really good and the 12mp is a cool feature for making really big prints. In the end I might just invest in a lanyard for two bucks and buy the regular Olympus camera and try not to drop it into water.
