Problem with Sakar Kidz Cam driver
ok i got the driver from sakar for the kidz cam and it still say theres a problem with it im not sure if i got the right driver or not or if i need somethin else to help it run the cam but if yall can help me please let me know a friend gave me the cam but couldnt find the cd to it

Hey I have the driver from a similar looking ARGUS dc-1500 camera.
It is called "photofantasy" by ARCSOFT ,CD-ROM for WINDOWS USERS.
However ,Ican also use this camera with SuSE linux 8.2~10.0 ,with the SERIAL port connector /running with Digikam or Gphoto.

Dido, We bought one for our kid and the software CD is a garbage installer that will run webcam one time and no camera the next.

my son got a sakar kids digital camera for christmas and we lost te instruction booklet. their are all kinds of codes on the bakc and i do not know what they mean. we also do not know how to delete the pics so the camera is full and he ahs not been able to take any pictures. anyone know how to??

i' ve finally figured this out after a few headaches. and it actually works better than expected. go to http://downloads.sakarhelp.com/camerainstall.exe then just follow thru. it will give you photags express for still photos and web cam express.good luck!!!!

by the way doing this you need no disk and dont plug the camera in until after it restarts your computer.let me know if anyone else has any lluck

to reset after putting pics in get photos and clicking camera. on the camera press mode button until you see ca then press the flash button it willgo back to 18

Thankyou for this web page, my daughter got this 2 years ago and never we could use it. Last year Santa were more generous and gave her a Sony CyberShot (what a change) but even with her new toy, she stills want to play with the Kidz Cam (go figure why, children are children). So, I am downloading the file, hoping that this works.

Don't want to sound paranoid, but I have downloaded the file from http://downloads.sakarhelp.com/camerainstall.exe and my PestPatrol software detected that the file CAMERAINSTALL.EXE comes with a Trojan called: Trojan.Bancos

Can't get Kidz Cam to work. No picture message. Reinstalled from CD, downloaded update from Sakar - didn't help. I'm a software developer, and know my way around Windows, PCs and software. After 3 hours, I'm giving up and buying my daughter something from a company I recognize.

I bought this camera for my child for her birhtday..... the cd had a tear in it and I am still tring to get some one on the phone {that speaks english} to get my address and phone number correct so they can send me another one. Now they tell me that someone will call me in a few days! Why there is a problem with sending me another one....I can't figure out. BUYERS BEWARE! This company has no useful customer service and their products are junk! The camera will not take a picture that is you can see well enough to tell what it is. No matter what mode it is in.

I just bought this tonight for something cheap that can take pictures I can download onto my computer... well that was a big mistake... I brought it home, it didnt have the manual or the CD-ROM... I plan to go back to walmart tomorrow and try to return it... but from what I've read so far I cant... this makes me angry because I had to pay for it myself... and have practically no job to make up for the lost money!!!

i have the same problem as a couple other ppl...it recognizes the camera and I finally figured out how to install the driver but it says there are no pics on the camera...has anyone figured out why?

I tried 3 different kids digi cams and decided they just aren't worth the frustration. I just recieved my dauther's HP 320 digi cam from Ebay and we both LOVE IT.
It's not a toy, although it is a lil light in weight, but it does what it needs to do. We decorated it with bright neon stickers to make it kid like, but it is definately not a kid toy like the rest of the cameras we tried.

I had the problem of the snapkids program not wanting to even start I went on a hunt and I found the scu number on sakar site is different than on my package and the model number is supposed to be 88379 and the camera I have is 86379. I think this is a fraud copy of this toy I read and heard of this happening to alot of toy products this may be why my program doesnt work or for some of you the driver. Just a thought.

I'm in the UK anbd bouth this for my son. He took 130 piccies but when i try to download, it only downloads 11 of them! Being stupid I mislaid my receipt (and I paid cash!) so when i took it back to my Asda store, they said they could only refund me 2pence, as these were not selling so they reduced them all!
It is a con and my 5 year is very upset he can;t see his piccies. Does any one know how to access the piccies if you simply connect the phone to the PC and open up Explorer???

my little girl is 7yrs. she saved her own money to buy this JUNK CAMERA! when we try to get pictures it says driver not installed properly. from now on i'll stick to buying all her things from ebay at least they honor their warrenty.

I have the same problems with their pen-cam.
First, for those of us who don't speak Chinese, we're, well, the actual term rhymes with bell unruly clucked but there might be kids browsing this forum trying to get their cams to actually work.
Also, just about every Sakar USB cam has the same chipset therein.
and they make a lot of them.
I got it to work in Windows M.E. but now it's not even doing that, and their WebCam Express and Photags Express programs don't recognize the camera.
I'm wondering if it has something to do with that trojan mentioned up the page a bit, because I've been running Spybots daily on the Windows partition to get rid of all the nasty little buggers.
Linux deals with it differently, and the main problem is setting permissions for the USB ports.
There's Linux drivers for that chipset that's shared by about eleventy-gadzillion different brands and models of cameras, most of them not Sakar.
Sakar Tech Support, and the people who translated the software disk, well, they speak English better than I speak Chinese, but that doesn't say much.
One day they'll have their act together.
Wally World wouldn't take the cam back, something like it was on clearance and clearance has no return value.
The French comment was that the camera is a pile of doo-doo.

This is a link to the Better Business Bureau in New Jersey where the company is located ..Sakar needs to be shut down. i've seen sheisters that are more concerned with their customers. anywho sakar "digital concepts" will not get anymore money from me or my friends. i recommend the same with all of ya'll. not worth the stress or headaches.

I got it to work, mostly. I tried to install it on my Win2000 machine. The CD could not be read. I was able to read the CD on a WinXP machine (with a DVD compatible reader) and copied the contents to a shared folder (eg, a memory stick). I did not install the software on my WinXP machine.
Back on the Win2000 machine, I logged in as Administrator - this is important! - and installed the software by launching the OEMDriverInstall program. I did not use the AutoPlay. After installing and restarting the machine I was able to launch the Kids Cam activity center application and download photos from the camera.
My Win2000 machine is configured with an account for me - Administrator - and an account for my 5yo - User. When logged in as User the software could not find the camera. I tried uninstalling the software, reconfiguring User to be an Administrator, re-installing logged in as User/Administrator. When User was demoted back to User (ie, restricted permissions), the software again refused to find the camera.
Interestingly, when logged in as User (ie, restricted permissions) the WebCam functionality performed perfectly.
This sounds like a bug in setting/recognising the USB access permissions by the application. Downloading photos is only possible when logged in as an Administrator. I tried logged in as a SuperUser but that also failed.
I have attached the User Manual for those interested. The Sakar site says that the Kids Cam 88379 is no longer available for sale.

I just bought two of these for my three and five year old daughters for Christmas. I just spent an hour trying to get the pictures to download. Thanks to Philip's comment above mine, I tried running the cd in my dvd drive. That worked as far as installing the software. I have 2 computers, both with XP home edition. I can get it to work on my laptop, but not my desktop computer. I am the admin account on both computers.

Bought two of these Sakar cams... model 88379 & 85379. can only figure out how to get one camera recognized at a time... indicates I have to uninstall software in order to get the other camera recognized... doesn't look like two models can be recognized by the software... Merry Christmas...

the installation disk is cracked and i have been calling since this morning and all they tell me is someone will call you back due to a high calling crap. if theres so many people calling tech support then they need to get a clue about their product and im angry at walmart for carrying such a product that nobody can do anything about. arghhhhh!

OK here is what we figured out. The software is WAY differenet than a real camera, you MUST follow the directions.
Load the software using the camera, attach the USB turn on the camera and when you see the camera load the software using that window.
When you do this you can highlight the picutres and save them just like in the manual describes on page 13. Select the photo (or all) and hit the save icon. The window looks exactly like the one on the page. You cannot delete or save any other way, no clcik and drag, no right click and you cannot use the 'normal' delete all pictures screen that I am accustomed to. Once you have saved the pictures in this manner, make sure that you have them and then disconnect the camera and delete the pictures ONE at a time using the little green button on the back of the camera with the "X" on it. Pressing this twice will remove the files from the unti one at a time. You cannot remove the files using the software, only using the camera.
It is different, not impossible, think like a kid and it wil be fine, goodluck!

I have not even gotten to the software download challenges. I just wanted her to take photos and see what she shot.

I would like to see a class action suit against SAKAR for stealing little kids christmas money. My 6 yr old used money from christmas to buy this piece of junk. Sakar obviously avoids any contact by not posting enough information. I can use a piece of plastic and a magnifying glass and do just as well. They should be ashamed!

I second that comment!! I bought the camera for my daughter for christmas and we took all of her birthday photos with it yesterday, we only had this camera. HOW FOOLISH!!!! I tried to down load the cd and my computer is not interested, I looked on the web to find a driver and I found this site. I live in france so I guess these are being sold accross the world, I think we need to complain to the standards agencies. I paid 20euros, when you add all these comments up it's a pretty penny this company have stolen for nothing.I got told by my french friend last night that she bought one last christmas and had problems with it and just binned it, how much money has this company collected???????????

I am in Australia and have had the same problems as everyone else. I got the driver to load but it would not download the pictures from the camera.
Luckily here in Australia the consumer protection laws mean that the company I bought it from MUST refund me when a product does not work the way it is supposed to.
I DEFINITELY would never buy anything from this company again based on all the stuff I have now read about it and I am taking copies of this site to show my store. They have only just started selling this product, sounds like they should rethink that action.
For those of you in other countries check with the consumer protection or fair trading organizations in your country, you may find that the retailer has to give you a refund or at least a credit voucher.

okay so
i went to the web site listed above for the download and all i get when i open the dowload is something called Dual Mode Camera
it allows me to use it as a webcam but will only take pictures when it is plugged into my computer. It will not open picture and i dont get any programs at all with it ( ie. photags express for still photos and web cam express)
please help!!

BUYER BEWARE.... I will admit that I'm not a tech guru, but I know how to install a driver, and how to use a camera. No luck with the junk that SAKAR is selling. And calling tech support is a joke. If you can understand what they are saying, it's something about emailing a link to another driver, and when that doesn't work, they will do it again, and again, AND AGAIN. My grandkids, luckily forgot about the camera, but that doesn't make it right. I will get my money back (fortunately I didn't buy it from Wal-mart - doesn't sound like anyone has had any luck there), and go to Walgreens and buy a couple of their $10.00 digitals and let the kids have some fun with those.

I wish I would have read this before hand...I am trying to install on a vista pc and no luck...has anyone had success on a XP system...I tried different modes and once I click on the software icon, nothing happens, it just hangs up.

i got a sakar cam it worka littlewell but my brother lost my cd now i cantdownload pics to my computer cuz someone allso deleted the file >b synovia I guess like the rest of you I shoiuld have done more checking on this product. We purchesed one for our daughter for her birthday in March and still can't get any pic. My camera wont even turn on when i put batteries in it, the only time i can remember it working it was when i first got it and i remember it breaking only a few days after i got it. but im not sure if its completely broke though because i found it today and put some batteries in it just for kicks and low and behold it worked .........until i took the batteries out,now its doing the same thing as before. I have called now 8 times... and each time they state they sent out a new sync cable and each time we do not receive it. The first 4 times we called... we gave our PO Box... on the 5th time we called, the representative stated that they could not ship to PO Box addresses. So we gave the physical address. It still never made it to us. This time I called in and they stated it was shipped out. I do not appreciate being made to feel like I received these cords! What would my 14 year old do with 8 cords???? So this time the gentleman I spoke to (which all have accents and it's hard to understand them) stated he would ship out a new camera but it would take 3 to 4 business weeks. I didn't want a new camera... my daughter already has the one she wanted.. she just wants the sync cable! Why can not they rush me a sync cable for my daughter's camera? I'm very, very disappointed with the customer service... my daughter called first and was put hold THREE times in the span of 10 minutes! Working in Quality for a major online corporation, I'm highly concerned that they cannot offer their customer's better service than this. I cannot understand why it would take three to four business weeks for an item to reach the customer... when I asked where the items were coming from they stated "New Jersey"... however; it shouldn't take that long to deliver to Missouri. I became a little testy on the phone and ask him to explain why it would take so long. He stated it was because the items were not in stock. Where in the heck are these items coming from? Is their CS outsourced? The reason we needed the new sync cable is because the one that came with the camera was defunct to begin with! It never worked! I will NEVER buy from this company outright and I'm telling all my friends, family, co-workers and neighbors about them. I will, however give them a chance. If I receive the item in the three or four business weeks I will update this site and give them a "kudos"... but what is very sad is that the fact I've had to contact them EIGHT times since Christmas! Almost once a month! Ai Yi Yi!!! "Disappointed Mom" I have a Sakar Model 27286 Well I spent a couple hours trying to get this camera software installed on my Windows XP for my 6 year old son. I had the original cable, and software CD, and it wouldn't work. I had the error "no camera installed", loaded the other drivers and then got the "twain" error, and at one point I tried to launch the web cam and I got the blue screen of death. What a waste and a shame to sell this junk to kids!!!! What finally worked was the driver from "Bite my ass Sucker industries" (great name) at rapidshare. The driver worked and I am able to download the pictures, but they are all black and white and grainy. I'm going to look around and see if I can find out how to switch to taking color pictures, but after the hours I've spent on this I'm about done. By the way.... I'm a computer tech support specialist. Have been fixing computer problems for about 15 years now, so I guess I can be considered fairly savvy. Did download the camera install program from the link above. This helped but still did not work. First error message was that the twain driver was missing. After the program download this error went away but the program still did not find the camera. Finally went to the control panel and updated the camera driver. This worked. Pictures download. Installed the CD on another computer where I was the 'Administrator' and was able to download the photos fine. Camera works just has VERY poor quality. Photos need to be taken in bright light and with a steady hand....so not very child friendly. Lin Wow! After being frustrated by this camera, I started googling till i read ALL these comments and find that I am not alone! Agree that this camera is worthless, my sister gave this camera for my 6 year old daughter last year. (I had previously given her my old..actually my very first.. webcam, which was over 10 years old but still worked great! (in fact quite similar to Sakar's camera in many ways.. except you know, it WORKED). My then 5 year old took lots of nice pics then but she lost the camera unfortunately, (hence the gift from her Aunt) I actually told my sis for the price she paid, she could have gotten a 2 megapix camera with lcd screen, but i guess she fell for the slick "girl" packaging... Anyway, had a hard time using it LAST YEAR so i set it aside and forgot about it until recently. Back to the camera and its problems.. From what I gather, complaints are several.. 1. Driver problems - Had a problem Installing on Windows 7, so ran it on WinXP. 2. Device connection problems - like some here, i also had problems w/ the PC recognizing the device. But i switch to another usb port and it worked. I could be wrong, but i think it works only on usb 1.1 and not on 2.0? Because when i first connected it to a usb hub (2.0) Windows did not recognize the Device, but when i plugged it to a usb 1.1 extention cable, it worked. Go figure. 3. Poor Customer Support - my kid lost the manual (she keeps losing stuff!) but i found the cable and installation cd. The "codes" in the camera are all gibberish, and not even proper letters in some cases! couldnt figure out how it all works. Downloaded the manual from Sakars website. Couldnt see the exact model anymore but its quite similar to to the heart shaped one. (my kids camera btw is the girl gear camera with interchangeable face plates) At least the manual cleared up some stuff, like what most of the coded meant. 4. Figuring out how to use it. I learned from the manual that the numbers on the screen meant how many shots are LEFT. (as opposed to how many shots you already took) 5. Cant shoot pics anymore/ cant load the pics to the PC/ cant delete pics from camera. I'm reading A LOT of complaints about this. This is my problem as well. The "counter" says 00 w/c meant i have 00 shots left, but problem is.. a - Software says no pics in camera (but webcam software works so i know its connected properly. b - did the CL (delete last pic) and CA (delete All). I guess the C is actually meant to be D (for Delete) bec NO WAY can we figure out what that meant on our own! Anyway, both "Deletes" dont work. c - Camera was with no batteries for over a year, so whatever pics that might have been in it would have been erased long time ago. There is NO REASON why the cam would still say its full. So for those people who cant shoot pics anymore (Counter is at 00), Im guessing its one of the ff issues: I. their cam is full of pics and they didnt realize this. II. They cant unload their pics bec they cant connect to their pc properly (USB or Driver problem My suggestion is to try to delete pics to see if the counter moves. Or take out the batteries for a day, that should clear the memory. I did that already so my conclusion for my case is that this cam was DOA last year.. i just didnt take time to figure that out when it first arrived then (I could have asked my sis to return it then, now its too late) I was googling form some help in case there is some way to still revive this piece of junk (like a BIOS flash or something but that's just me wishful thinking. I am adding my experience here for others who like me google help for this camera. 1. Insert disc which comes with camera and stop it from installing
2. Go to Start Menu (lower left of screen)
3. "my computer"
4. Right click on the icon for the disc and select 'explore'
5. select the 'drivers' menu
6. install driver
7. do not select restart computer
1. get hammer
2. take out your frustrations on being tricked by smashing this thing to pieces
3. realize there might have been something on the inside worth saving

Excerpt: Just loaded the software for a heart shaped (14097) camera and ran into the same problem of no camera connection that others have talked about. The software loaded fine but no drivers. So - with the disc in the drive and the camera connected, try going into device manager and double click the camera . . .
