From what I have read in the past, almost all digital sensors are really, really good in the IR spectrum but they have a filter to block it. Canon EOSDa is an astronomy camera, which is basically the same camera with the filter removed.

There are instruction on the internet for doing a Canon dSLR, but that's an expensive proposition if you screw up.

So since you can do it to most cameras, maybe its a project for you the next time you are gutting something.

Thanks for the tip, Pat. I've taken apart the Sony DSC-P92 and turned it into a infrared digital camera before. I documented the process and the result in my "Hacking Digital Cameras" book . . .

The link you provided is renewing my interest. Now I'm considering modifying the tiny $20 digital camera I got recently. I think it is an excellent candidate.
