pc-controlled photocamera

hi to all! i'm a wildlife biologist and i'm trying to solve a logistic technical problem for one field work. I need to take time-lapse Hires (at least 3 mpx) photos... do you have any idea? for example: do exist a software or a digital camera that works connected to pc? or do exist external hard-disks for digital cameras? or pc-controlled cameras?
thanks in advance
Paolo

Look at the Canon digital cameras. They come with RemoteCapture, which will help you take time-lapse photos from your PC.

Paolo,
As Chieh says, the Canon DSLRs (and some of the high end point and shoot like the S3 IS) will do PC capture, but they also will take a remote control and Canon makes a timer remote control that can be programmed for an infinte (capacity of battery and memory card)series of photos at time intervals that can go from 1 second to days. The Canon number is TC80n3. It's about $160 USD on the web, or you can get a basic stamp 2 microcontroller and build your own for about $60 (less if you have a good junk box of electronic parts). I'm submitting and article on how to build this for Nuts and Volts magazine.

Hi Jon,

Let us know when your DIY timer/interval meter is published in Nuts and Volts. I'd love to pick up a copy and read it. Thanks.
