auto-focus with Canon 100-400mm lens and 1.4x teleconverter

have 100-400 canon lens what do i have to do to get the af to work when i put a 1.4 converter on it canon 20 d camera thanks RAY

ray, your Canon 100-400mm L lens has a constant aperture of f/5.6. That is also the smallest aperture that your Canon EOS 20D can auto-focus at. With a 1.4x teleconverter, your lens will have an aperture of f/8. There is one trick that will allow your 20D to auto-focus with a f/8 lens, but you may not get satisfactory results.
