LEICA ELMARIT-M 24 mm f/2.8 ASPH -- The Super Wide Angle Lens

Leica is a German company well known for producing cameras, microscopes and geosurvey equipments. Leica introduced a new remarkable optical lens called LEICA ELMARIT-M 24 mm f/2.8 ASPH SLR (Single Lens Reflex) Lens. It includes a six bit lens identification code. This super power lens is available with nice black anodized finish. The silver chrome plated version is also available now.

The dimension of this lens is 45 × 58 mm (1.8 × 2.3 inches) (length × diameter). The lens gets built with a combination of seven elements in five groups. The focal length of the lens is 24 mm. The minimum aperture of the lens is f/16 and the maximum aperture is f/2.8. The screw-in type filter size will be 55 mm. The closest focusing distance will be 70 cm (27.6 inches). The angle at diagonal, horizontal and vertical views will be 84, 74 and 53 degrees respectively. The maximum magnification of this lens is 1:26.

This lens is specially designed and it includes one aspherical lens surface. It contains one lens element which has the feature of anomalous partial dispersion in it. The other two lenses in it are made of optical glasses which has the capacity of refraction of high indices. These features give this lens an outstanding contrast while taking the pictures. It also provides detailed rendition and high contrast at full aperture range. So the images can be locked with excellent quality.

A brilliant viewfinder is also there in this lens which gets used for checking the view of the field. The activities such as focusing and exposure metering are used within the camera's own viewfinder itself. When a close up picture gets taken, the lens adds dynamic feeling to the image and the viewer. The landscape photographs taken by using this lens is more depth in common. The vignetting is completely reduced in this lens. The output of the pre-flash gets determined in flash mode by this lens.

It includes enhanced functions which support the digital Leica M type cameras. It contains a bayonet ring, which is equipped with six digit black and white code. This lens stops by just 1.0 to 1.5 apertures and delivers maximum optical performance throughout the image field range. The excellent performance and plasticity are retained even at close focus shooting. The focal length bears converging verticals and so we can shoot an entire building from a minimum distance with ease.

The lens weighs 290 grams (10.24 ounces). This lens gives high performance and makes possible to focus and work through the difficult working conditions without much effort. This lens provides optimal image results. With high build quality and brilliant performance, this lens is very good for architectural shots and photojournalism assignments.
