LEICA SUMMILUX-M 21 mm f/1.4 ASPH SLR Lens - A Shrillest Wide Angle Lens

Leica is a German company and they are well known for cameras, microscopes and geosurvey equipments. Leica extends their series of high speed M lenses into wide angle range by introducing their new LEICA SUMMILUX-M 21 mm f/1.4 ASPH SLR (Single Lens Reflex) Lens.

The lens gets constructed with a combination of 10 elements in eight groups. The size of this lens is 69.5 mm x 66 mm. The focal length of this lens is 21 mm. The maximum aperture of this lens is f/1.4. It provides 92 degrees angle of view. The minimum focusing distance is 70 cm. The magnification ratio is 0.03x. It has a rectangular sized metal lens hood which accommodates series VIII filter mounts. The front lens is fixed and it contains a low dispersion lens element.

It comprises two aspherical elements which offer optimum image quality and beautiful colors across the field. The lens combines seven elements with anomalous dispersion. The lens offers performance over the entire range and gives excellent images. The floating element provides quality images at full stop and at the close-up range. When it goes down to 2.8, it renders absolutely brilliant image quality. It has a wide angle potential so it offers wide angle view at a high speed.

It is the first and only small camera lens with this lens speed. The M camera is faster than the other cameras with automatic focus. The state of art technology combined with meticulous craftsmanship guarantees the quality of the lens. It includes an internal zoom. This lens contains a regular polarizing filters and sized E82 (21 mm) is possible with its special filter adapters. The applications included with this lens are landscape, interiors, architecture and special effects.

During focusing, two elements change their positions from the rest of the optical system and delivers maximum performance. The vignetting and distortion are not seen in this lens. The chromatic aberrations (CA) get avoided with much effort and so no chromatic aberrations are there. It also features a shallow field depth. This shallow field depth shows the subject in close focus range effectively from the background. With the field depth range, the entire landscapes can be focused sharply.

This lens comes with a front cap, rear cap and a leather case. The lens weighs 580 grams due to its solid metal construction and helical brass focusing. The lens is solidly built and is suitable for all kinds of settings and situations. This lens is best suitable during night time scenarios.
