question about Lenmar speed charger

Hello

Somehow I ran into your article about "hacking" these. I have had one for a year or two and it has been a huge time and money saver since I had to recharge batteries while I was shooting or recharge several batteries back to back within a few hours.

Do you know why they no longer seem to sell "SpeedCharger" at Lenmar? When I go to their website I simply can't find them any more, and seems like stores are clearing them out. I haven't noticed any trouble with them charging my batteries several times, so I'm not sure why they'd stop selling them.

Please let me know if you know any reason they seem to be disappearing.

Thanks

You are right! I don't see them on Lenmar's web site either. And Amazon only has the Mach 1 Speed Charger for 7.4V in stock; whereas they use to have several models of the Speed Charger. It seems to me that Lenmar is now market a new line of "SpeedCharger": the SOLOXP Multi-Battery Charger. Amazon seems to carry a lot of these new SOLOXP chargers: Amazon Search for "SOLOXP"

Hello

Thanks for taking the time to reply to me!

I did call Lenmar this morning and talked with the girl that answered the phone, but she didn't sound very knowledgeable so I'm not sure how much weight to give her answers. I think your information is more reliable.

Thanks again!

the only thing I don't see on the URL you sent me about this new charger is that it doesn't appear to be a "speed' charger. My current one is supposed to charge batteries in 30 minutes, and it is very very fast to charge up a very large battery. I'm not sure if the new one you are referring to is very fast - it doesn't appear they are marketing it to be fast.

Anyway, thanks again for your thoughts.

I believe the Mach 1 SpeedCharger is rated at charging 750mAh in 30 Minutes, while the OmniSource SpeedCharger is rated at charging 750mAh in 2 hrs. The SOLOXP charge rate is 4 hours with no mAh quantification. I assume it's twice as slow as the OmniSource SpeedCharger. If charge time is important to you, then get the Mach 1 SpeedCharger before inventory runs out.

The USB port on the SOLOXP seems quite convenient though. But it's charge rate is no faster than the standard charger that comes with most digital cameras, which is disappointing.
