Contour ROAM Model 1600

actually you don't need story teller to config the camera. the config fill is on the sd card. "FW_RTC.txt" is the file. you can actually do a lot more with the camera than story teller will let you. try how i have mine set up at the moment.

Attached File: FW_RTC.txt (517 B)

You can edit the file in the root folder that the Contour reads to configure itself with any text editor. The file is named fw_rtc.txt and contains inline comments about the various settings. After making a change to any setting set UPDATE:Y, save the file, then start up the Roam. It will read the file and use the settings you have set (if they are valid).

Hello,
I was hoping to set up multiple SD cards for different uses. (one for HD Video, one for still photos at 1sec, etc)
The problem is that after changing the value to update:Y and putting the card in the camera,
the value is reset to N, so the cards can't just be swapped back and forth during the course of a day of traveling, for instance.
This puts me up against the limits of my computer knowledge. Is there a way to make the update:Y value permanent so that each time it is inserted it still tells the camera to update the settings?
Thanks,
Jack

You must have a new firmware, eh? The old firmware doesn't have a "UPDATE:Y" setting (see the configuration in the first post). Would you upload the configuration file you have so we can see the difference? If what I'm saying is correct, maybe another option is to downgrade to an older firmware.

I got it to work. I has to be done on a pc, not a mac. Go ahead and set up one card through story teller the way you want it. Through the browser folder, change the "Update" to "Y" then you have to make the txt file "read only". Now switch to your second card, set it up through story teller the way you want it and repeat the process of the first.

Now when you switch your cards, the "update" will always be "y" so everytime you start the camera it will check to see what the camera settings are, rather than "import" them from the previous card.
