X-ray Camera

I recently saw this video which explained how to get a sony camcorder to see through clothes

In this video they used a sony camcorder with night shot

Is there a better or cheaper alternative

The video wasn't very clear. But the developed, unexposed film is to block out all visible light and only allow infrared light through. It's a visible light filter, not a IR filter. The IR filter is removed inside the Sony camcorder when they switched it to NightShot mode.

I don't know if it is a better alternative, but a cheaper alternative (assuming you have a digital camera or camcorder) is to remove the IR-Cut filter that is in front of the image sensor. Then replacing it with a clear plain glass. This technique is covered in my "Hacking Digital Cameras" book.

Otherwise, the Sony camcorder is probably the best and the cheapest alternative.
