Need Driver for Sony DCR-TRV330 on a Macbook?

I have just received a Sony DCR-TRV330 as a gift. It's a few years old but appears to have been used about 3 times. I operate with a Macbook (OSX 10.5.5) I'm buying a firwire tomorrow at the Mac store but since the camera came with everything BUT the software, I'm wondering if that's something I definitely need? I'm assuming it's built into the Mac already because I also have an old digital camera iphoto identified right away. Am I wrong about this? Sony charges $50 for the software because the model's been discontinued. Does anyone know about this? I appreciate your taking the time to reply.

The Firewire driver should be built into Mac OS X. So you will not need the Sony software for the driver. I have heard some people talking about a video edition software called iMovie, but I don't know if that comes with a Mac or not.

yes, since it comes with iLife, it also comes with iMovie HD.

if you can't find it, I know you can go to the Apple site and download it for free. It's the only application out of the iLife that is offered for free.
