Sony Handycam Mangling Tapes

Hello,
I have 2 old Sony CCDs both of which spit out a tiny white roller like piece. I cannot figure out where these go. The piece looks a roller it has a metal pin inside, and has the white roller spool locked onto it. Both are doing the same problem, EATING or chewing or mangling the tapes. I am afraid to do anything as I don't want my tapes ruined. It is not the piece that goes inside the black pinch wheel, that part is fine. Every picture I have seen does not show clearly where this piece goes, and I am going bonkers trying to figure this out! Advice appreciated!

Hi,
My 2 sony camcorders that I got are doing the same thing, mangling tapes. The tapes go in and then when played or wound forward or reverse, the bottom edge gets wrinkled and bent. Obviously a problem! When shaking the camera, I heard a rattle and in both cases, a tiny white piece fell into my hands. This is not the locking piece to the insided of the black wheel, that piece is fine. I can't figure out where this piece goes. It seems to be that it is part of the tension in the process of film, but I can't get an internal diagram! Please help!
