Will DCR-HC21 Work With Windows Vista?

I'm having a problem getting my Sony DCR-HC21 digital video camera to work with Windows Vista. I know there are no updated USB drivers for this camers so I purchased a FireWire card and cable. The computer recognized the FireWire card and a message popped up saying the drivers for it wre successfully installed. However, when I hooked up the camera and opened up Windows Movie Maker, I got a message saying it could not locate the camera. Is this a Vista issue or is something else haywire? Any suggestions?

Seems to me, based on all the posts I've read, none of the Sony cameras work well with Vista. Sony is no help WHATSOEVER!!!! When you go to the website all it says is you can buy the cd online, and I am sure it is the one that comes with the camera, which does not work with Vista.

I have a DCR-HC26 and it works when it feels like it with a software package I have (which was written pre-Vista).

The best solution I have found is to hook the camera up, turn it on, and start playing a video on the camera. Vista will pop up that little window asking what you want to do and make your selection. Pick the one with Windows Movie Maker and then it SHOULD recognize the camera and work.

Hope this helps. If you come across any software that works well with the Sony cameras and Vista, please let everyone know.
