Coolpix into webcam

does aanyone know if there is a software that turns digital camers into webcams?

You may try cPix, It's working with 990 like a webcam... I dunno about the other coolpix...

Strangely enough yes, you can use a Nikon CoolPix 950 (the model I have) as a webcam. In my instance I am using a Snappy (old Play.com model of vidcap) That I found version 4.0 with the patch for online. It allows the camera to send streaming media or act as an intermittent upload/update cam, and security cam as well as letting you connect to a TV (I have a 4.5in color TV as a monitor from the Snappy. I am planning on getting an old WinTV card (@$19,00US) to try as well. The camera comes with a cable that has a mini video plug (camera side)one end and an RCA video plug distal end. Hey it works! I am just not putting anything online yet as I am in the middle of a lot of work!!! ~8)

That is quite ingenious! So you use the video out on the 950 to connect to Snappy, eh? I never thought of it. I do have a Snappy sitting around in my closet . . . time to pull it out and play around with it again.

CAn anyone say if they have managed this under WinXP

I have tried cPix, but that does not want to work.

I would really like to know how to do this.
