It's probably not much cheaper than an DSLR. But it is a DSLR! :-P I would probably get one if I have the money. It seems very nice.

yeah? I realized it doesn't have flash but do other DSLR have them? I like that it's small...but $800...man...I guess I'll start saving and by the time I have enough, I can get version two... :)

The lower end DSLR's have flash. The mid/high-end DSLR's don't. Reason is because you are more likely to have the bigger, professional lenses on the higher end DSLR's. And the sheer size of the lens will block the onboard flash.

If you are going to stick to the kit lens (the lens that comes with the camera), then the onboard flash can be useful. But if you are not, then you should get an external flash or don't use flash at all.

that's what i figure about the flash...which I don't use even now. so, why would you get this over a regular DSLR?

i didn't know there were other ones: "The EOS M will go head-to-head with mirrorless cameras from Olympus, Panasonic, Sony and Nikon and will be available in October for around $800 as a kit with the 22mm f/2 lens."

man...$800...and hundreds more for better lenses...both of which I'm gonna break...yeah, I can't justify it...

I'd get it because I've always wanted a digital version of the Canon IX . . . Canon EOS IX Body Style

Other companies has started made these cameras a year ago. Canon is late to the game.

Yes, if you get the Canon EF-EOS M lens adapter, then you can use all of the Canon EF lenses.
