FujiFilm has been a major player during the film camera era. Today, their brand still contains the word "film", but they have been trying to succeed in the digital camera market with both P&S and SLR offerings. In my quest to find P&S digital cameras that support the RAW and TIFF mode, I arrived at the FujiFilm site to see their current line-up.
RAW
FujiFilm FinePix E550
FujiFilm FinePix E900
JPEG Only
FujiFilm FinePix A345
FujiFilm FinePix A350
FujiFilm FinePix A400
FujiFilm FinePix A500
FujiFilm FinePix E500
FujiFilm FinePix E510
FujiFilm FinePix F10
FujiFilm FinePix F470
FujiFilm FinePix V10
FujiFilm FinePix Z1
It turned out that FujiFilm has partner up with Olympus to produce digital cameras that uses xD-Picture Card. I don't have a problem with the xD-Picture Card technology itself, but CompactFlash and Secure Digital Card are the more popular format. For me to convert to this new standard, FujiFilm and Olympus better have some special feature in their digital cameras that could entice me.
FujiFilm got some nice P&S cameras. Of course, none of their smaller, stylish cameras supported either RAW nor TIFF. However, it does have two cameras in their FinePix line-up that could produce RAW images. The FujiFilm FinePix E550 and E900 digital cameras are both moderate in size and style. Both cameras can produce an amazing 9 MP image, high enough for even professional needs.
The only problem I have with these cameras is their use of the xD-Picture Card. I'll keep them on my list and look at other manufacturers. At the end of my research, I will run a comparison between all the RAW/TIFF capable cameras of various manufacturers.
