Nikon Coolpix S1000pj -- A Delightful Digital Camera

Nikon is a Japan based multinational corporation and is best known for optics and imaging. They produce cameras, microscopes, binoculars, measurement instruments and the steppers used in photolithography. Nikon has revealed the world's first point and shoot compact digital camera called Nikon Coolpix S1000pj with a built-in projector.

Nikon Coolpix S1000pj is a typical point and shoot camera. The dimension of this camera is 99.5 x 62.5 x 23 mm (4 x 2.5 x 0.9 inches). S1000pj has a 12.1 Megapixel of high resolution images with a CCD type of sensor. S1000pj contains a 2.7 inch anti reflection coated LCD monitor with 230,000 dots resolution. The image sizes vary from 640 x 480 to 4000 x 3000. The focus distance of this camera is 30 cm to infinite. The ISO sensitivity ranges from ISO 80 to ISO 6400. The high ISO capability (ISO 6400) give fast shutter speed while shooting in low light condition or capturing fast moving objects.

The Coolpix S1000pj projects images to a maximum of 40 inches in size with VGA resolution and a maximum distance of two meters. Coolpix S1000pj is supplied with a remote control and stand for easy use. It includes an optically stabilized 5x wide angle zoom lens (28 to 140 mm equivalent). It includes 16 superb scene modes for optimized shooting in various settings. It features D-lighting to brighten the shadows occur when shooting and an active zoom. It bears four movie modes with perfect sound capacity.

It has a scene auto mode which automatically selects the appropriate scene mode based on the subject the user focusing on. It produces perfect images at one touch of the button. It also includes five functions that reduce the image blur. The smart portrait system ensures excellent result every time. The skin softening function reduce the appearance of blemishes. The motion detection automatically regulates the shutter speed and ISO setting to compensate the subject movement and camera shake.

The digital zoom can be done up to 4x. The face priority AF produces nice portraits by adjusting focus and exposure up to 12 faces in a framed shot. The skin softening function detects and analyzes the framed subject and adjusts the smoothness to produce enhanced results. The best shot selector function selects the sharpest one according to the subject view out of ten shots. It has a 36 MB of internal memory. For storage, the SD/SDHC cards are used.

S1000pj uses a rechargeable lithium ion battery EN-EL12. It takes 220 shots with this battery. S1000pj weighs 155 grams (5.5 ounces). The connectivity available in S1000pj is USB and AV out. The supplied accessories with this camera are battery charger MH-65, USB cable UC-E6, audio video cable EG-CP14, strap AN-CP19, projector stand ET-2, remote control ML-L4 and software suite CD ROM. The optional accessory is AC adapter EH-62F. S1000pj is very comfortable to handle and easy to operate. Nikon Coolpix S1000pj is an unassuming digital camera which surprises and delights the users.
