Nikon is a Japanese multinational corporation and they are the leading manufacturers of imaging and optical products. Their products include cameras, binoculars, microscopes, measurement instruments and steppers used in photolithography. Nikon unveiled its latest compact DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) camera called Nikon D3000. D3000 is the Nikon's least expensive DSLR.
The dimension of this camera is 126 × 97 × 64 mm (5.0 × 3.8 × 2.5 inches). It has a 10.2 Megapixel of image resolution. It includes a 23.6 × 15.8 mm DX format CCD type of sensor. It contains a 3.0 inch LCD having 230,000 pixels. The NIKKOR lenses provide images of great quality. The camera provides continuous shooting up to 3 frames per second. The ISO sensitivity ranges from auto, ISO 100 to ISO 3200. The self timer options available in this camera are 2, 5, 10 and 20 seconds.
It features an 11 point autofocus system with 3D tracking. The 11 point autofocus system locks the fastest moving subjects in focus. The 11 point autofocus system gets driven by multi-CAM 1000 autofocus sensor module. It contains a powerful EXPEED processing system which delivers excellent pictures. EXPEED offers excellent resolution and superb color to the images. It makes possible fast processing of imaging functions such as Active D-lighting and scene recognition. The scene recognition system offers exposure accuracy, white balance, nice color and autofocus over the entire scene shooting.
The camera comes with a new guide mode which makes the first time users to shoot without difficulty. The camera settings can be adjusted to obtain an optimal result. D3000 produce beautiful high resolution images without loss of sharpness. The Active D-lighting removes the shadows and highlights the scenes taken by the camera. It uses 420 pixel RGB sensors for analyzing a scene and adjusts the exposure of the images taken by the camera. D3000 includes four versatile AF modes, single point AF for stationary subjects, dynamic area AF for moving subjects, auto area AF for proper focus and 3D tracking AF for maintaining the focus on subjects.
The picture control system is used to customize the digital image capture. The picture control system contains six settings, standard, neutral, vivid, portrait, landscape and monochrome. The in-camera photo editing reduces the need for computer to modify the captured images. D3000 introduces a miniature effect under retouch menu for modifying images. The integrated dust reduction system removes the dust. The key feature of this dust reduction system is airflow control system which keeps the dust away from the image sensor. The image sensor cleaning function activate automatically when the camera get powered on or off. D3000 has an extensive playback option for viewing images.
It uses a rechargeable lithium-ion battery EN-EL9a for power source. It delivers 550 shots for a single full-time charge. This camera is compatible with SD and SDHC memory cards. The camera weighs 485 grams (17.1 ounces) without battery and 536 grams (18.9 ounces) with battery. D3000 has a solid body construction and it includes several exciting features. D3000 is the best choice for family events or day out.
