I need a disposable camera for an event, but also need a ZOOM lens. Does such an animal exist? A single use camera with a zoom?

This reply is a few years late, but Kodak just released exactly what you are looking for . . . a disposable camera with a zoom lens.
Recently, I saw the KODAK Zoom One-Time-Use Camera at the local Wal-mart. This is the first 35mm One-Time-Use flash camera with a zoom lens. The zoom lens is able to bring objects 35% closer than normal.
Walmart.com currently does not carry this product online. If you like to order it online, you can get it from Amazon.

Well.... I disassembled last summer exactly this camera. Zoom is a marketing gag in this case. In fact when pulling the switch the 35mm lens becomes a short tele by putting another plastic lens in front of the 35mm plastic lens and also a supplimentary lens into the viewfinder. I expected more honestity from Kodak.
