need some ideas on how to fix two Canon camcorders

I have been assigned to teach a Broadcast Journalism class and have inherited equipment that doesn't work. I have two Canon video cameras and they both "flip" the tape during playback. I've tried using a tape to clean the heads, but this doesn't work. I can't even find a place to send the cameras to. One of the camera's also needs to have the microphone jack repaired. Do you have any advice on how to find a good repairman, or how to repair these problems myself?
