Playback Mode Problems

I have a Samsung SLC 700 Camcorder in which I have had for about 4 years. I only used it about 2-5 times and put it in storage. I pulled it out the other day to find out that, when I record something and play back, the screen is Black and White. It looks like when your on a channel with a cable cord unplugged. Its fuzzy. What am I to do? Things I have tried is to get a head cleaner cassette in which it just keeps emergency ejecting it. Im hoping that there is an easy solution to this problem. HELP PLEASE

Thanks in Advance...

Which screen? The viewfinder or the LCD? On many older camcorders, the viewfinder is a B/W LCD.

The solution is likely easy, because it sounds like an user error. It is highly unlikely that a dirty head will cause the video to be B/W. In fact, I can't think of any logical engineering problem that could cause that. If the head is dirty, the video will be missing blocks or no video. Here are some possibilities to your problem:

  1. You are looking at a LCD that is meant to be B/W. When you play back on TV, it will be color;
  2. You've set a special effect playback mode, where it changes the video to B&W on playback;
  3. You've recorded the video in B&W special effect mode. If you did this, then there is no way to bring the video back to color. You can test to see if this is the case by recording (with special effects turned off) on a different tape and see if it is color.

Its not black and white. You cant see anything. Anything that I record dont show up, it just shows the fuzzy screen that makes a loud nosie. Like, if I was to go to your house and snatch your cable out the tv its makes that black and white fuzz with a loud noise.
