do you know if we film something with an HD camcorder, it will work on a DVD player?
Do you know the process of how that works? Or is HD too much and need something like Blue-Ray for it to be useful?
Thanks.

There is no easy answer for those questions.
Technically, a single layer DVD stores 4.7 GB. That means you can store 4.7 GB worth of HD material, which I suppose wouldn't be that long. And the length will again depends on the HD resolution you choose. HD supports the following resolution:
1920x1080
1280x720
852x480
The higher the resolution you use, the more space it will take up. And I suspect that the progressive scan will take up twice as much space as interlaced.
Of course, you can always down-sample your video to DV or compressed DVD resolution, so that it can fit on your DVD. The possibility in post-processing is endless.
