Can't Change Tape

I still cannot open my panasonic cam. I don't know about any 3211 code-- not getting any message like that --don't even know where that would be. I had my cam attached to the computer without a battery for about a week-- could that have damaged it? Anyway it plays the tape inside but does not open to let me change the tape (mini dvd). It is warm in here--the heat kicked on-- but not sure if that is it and what to do about that? Tried removing battery and connecting cord to battery charger-- is that what you all mean by "plugging it in to the wall"? I don't have my manual right now. Can someone advise??? aak
thanks
