I own a PC350 for about year. I am thinking of buying a extrenal mic.
I heard great reviews about the Rode VideoMic. Have you used any external mics?

I purchased a Rode VideoMic recently and I have been unable to use it since the noise it generates is very evident. I have read good reports about this mic but it does not work at all well with my Sony DCR-TRV33E camcorder. It will also not mount on the camera since the large clamping ring fouls the body of the camera before it clamps down. I have been in touch with Rode and they promised to send me a new mount with a smaller ring but it is now nearly a fortnight later and nothing has arrived and they do not seem to respond to my emails now.
I would urge anyone tempted to purchase this mic to try-it-before-you-buy-it if you can.

The mic is actually very quiet, you're hearing the camera transport.
There's more samples of the RODE VideoMic in a recording studio over at Shotgun Shootout
