3D Stereo-Optical Recording for Camcorders

Slightly off topic [in reference to "Changing Tape Without Removing Camcorder from Tripod Mount"]: Another rig I made up for the DCR TRV-350 was stereo-optical or 3D recording using two cameras and some trophy parts. Two sets of 3” risers set three inches apart allowed tape cassette changes, and adequate visual separation, but not enough room to open the right side camera LCD. The stereo-optical tripod adapter also made a hassle of keeping both cameras pointed at the same spot. When I went to Firewire DV to PC side by side Mpeg's with a PokeScope (cross eyed) viewer then I used a plain piece of wood with some plain 1 ½" long bolts threaded ¼" 20 and spent less time adjusting parallax. But again making changing tapes impossible.
