Yo! Anyone who says the Internet isn't the greatest invention ever is full of crapola. I have a DCR-HC21. I pounded the little bastard until the e61:00 was gone. Good as new. Saved me $200+.

Smacking the camera worked for me. I used the method on three different cameras that I have. 2 Sony DCR-TRV230 One camera I have had for years. Had it in the shop 2x & the job lasted only a few weeks, liked the camera so much I bought another off e-bay. It worked fine for a month & did the same thing error e:61:10. So I searched online & found this wonderful page of people smacking their camera's. Tried it, it worked on both camera's. Also tried it on a friends JVC which error said the lense cap was still on, when it was not. Smacked it a couple of times up by the lens. Worked great. I'm a true believer in the smacking method. (Just try it.)

I smacked my camera numerous times and couldn't get the error to go away, but it made me feel much better and eventually I completely broke it which solved the problem, in a way.

I whacked my DSC-P200 a few times on my knee and sure eneogh the error went away and my camera works again. I'm working away in a third world country, and would not have been able to get it fixed until I returned to Australia in 2 months. Thanks heaps for the tip.

Error started a couple of days ago; camera had been in storage for a few weeks. Smacked it twice and starting working. Zoom and focus feels sluggish though.
