Hi people,
I have a Sony Bloggie with the 360 lens attachment and am using it for a time lapse project BUT there's an annoying quirk in that the bloggie will only record up to 29 minutes of continuous recording at any one time!!!!?
I have a 16GB SD card inside it and really need it to be recording for a good 2 hours. If anyone knows of any hacks or ways to extend the recording time, I would be so grateful.
Really need your help guys!
Cheers,
Josh.

did you ever find a hack for continuous recording? i love the swivel lens but this max time limit is major let down. i've searched youtube, everywhere, to be able to remove that time limit deal but to no avail.

I know this is an old thread, but I'm faced with the same limitation and really need to fix this. It seems that it's an issue with the file size. Once you have a 2GB video file, it shuts off. It would be cool to have it continue recording and just start on a new file.
Were you able to increase the continuous recording limit?

If 2 GB is its limitation, then I suspect that the file system format is the limitation. It's likely using the FAT16 file system, which has the 2 GB limit. See "File Allocation Table" on Wikipedia. You'll probably have to change the firmware so that it uses another file system format, such as FAT32, to remove this limitation.

It's not the Filesystem limit as I've just tried on VGA -smaller size- but again 30 minutes! Such a shame Sony!

It is not the file size, it has to do with EU import tariffs. In the EU, anything that records for 30 minutes or longer is considered a video recorder, and anything that takes pictures, but also does video is taxed as a still camera with a lower import tax. So they created the bloggie with a 29 minute time limit so it would fall under the import laws for still cameras instead of video cameras. And for whatever reason did not make a different version for other markets. I think Sony probably doesn't want the bloggie to cannibalize their more expensive video cameras as well.
