My sony camcorder stopped working all of a sudden. If the charged battery is inserted it shows pixels on the LCD screen even when camera s in OFF position. Camera won't function in any of modes. Even the cassette won't come out.I went to sony service station and they said the PCB board has water in it and damaged. The new board would cost the camera price $400 USD and is not guaranteed to work. Any help resolving the problem would be really apprciated.

Based on the symptom you provided, the Sony Service Tech is probably right. Sounds like the power circuit is hosed. Or the logic circuit board is gone. Your best best is to replace your camcorder with a new one. Since Hi8/Video8 camcorders are now obsolete. You should probably pick up another one before they all disappear from the face of the earth.
