This camera has a recording limit of 25 mins at a time. Does any body know a way to break into the firmware and change this limit??

I too would love to know if there is any way to change the 25 min continuous recording time limit. Hopefully the next model wont have this limitation or hopefully another manufacturer will make a camera simular in size and shape with a tilt lense.

I think you cant change that, because is not a limitation of the camera itself.
The format of the memory (see fat16, fat32) only allows archives at some weight.
The same thing thats was used to happen in win98, with the hard disk formated in fat.
Think in a 2GB limit per archive.
If you choose the lowest quality at time of shot video, you clearly can see that the time redorded is over 25 min.
Oh, yes, but the quality simply sucks.
Im finding some bend or hack for that camera too. A firmware update will be great.
Because lock the exposure, or turn off the display while recording is not a hardware limitation.

I read, in sony docs, that the problem is the 2GB limit. If someone found how to fix, please help us.
If you change the resolution the time limit is aprox 29 minutes.

Unfortunately I think the 2 GB limit is the operating system's file system limit. It's a limitation of FAT format used on the memory.
Maybe it's possible to create a hack where the camera stops at 2 GB, but immediately starts another recording right after.

"Depending on the camera, the recording time for each movie is limited to approximately 25-29 minutes and the maximum size of one movie file is 2 GB. Therefore, recording is automatically stopped when the file size reaches 2 GB or if 25-29 minutes of uninterrupted recording occurs. This is normal operation."

"recording is automatically stopped when the file size reaches 2 GB or if 25-29 minutes" hmm... after 25 minutes recording is stopped or saved 25 minustes movie and automatically started new movie fragment?
