Hi everyone.
I have just been given a Sony DCR-TRV18E. Its heads or something like this, are a little dirty i think? It turns on fine, the memory stick functions work fine, pictures and videos, but digital recording on the tape is where the issue starts. It records fine as per usual, but rewinding and play back on the LCD scree, View finder, and any external tv plays back the video, with large chunks of pixels, columns, or rows, distorted or the wrong colour, it can be as bad as small squares, to complete blank screen where it just can't read. Along with this is crackly, missing, or blurry audio.
I asume its something to do with either reading from the tape, or writing to the tape. Are these seperate heads or what. Anybody have any ideas about how to clean them or any other solutions to thisproblem?
Thanks for any input in advance!
Cheers - Josh

Use a video head cleaner for your camcorder. See "Dirty Video Head C:22:00". There are links to two head cleaning tapes in the "Related Links" below. Give those a try.
