Sony DCR-TRV280 owners - please help

Hello, this may be a long shot but:

My camera has problems with tape tension, and eats tapes especially as they near the end of the tape. Usually problems start off as a mystery, but this problem began the day a piece fell out of the camera.

This may be a long shot but I can't afford to have it repaired: If you have a TRV280, I would be very grateful if you would look inside and see if you can spot where my missing piece should be. Here are links to photos of the piece and the inside:
