Sony DCR-TRV 320 shuts down during recording

My Sony DCR-TRV320, about 6 years old, has been shutting down completely during recording. Today after about 20 minutes of recording, and again this evening after only 2 minutes. Just goes blank, no ding-ding sound, nothing. Battery showed plenty of power/time left before this occurs. When plugged into the charging cable it records fine fine. No error messages I was aware of. Any help? Thanks!

If it's working fine from AC, then it's probably your battery that's dead. After 6 years, even if it's not been used much, you can almost guarantee it being on the way out. One symptom of this will be a sudden descent from "fully charged" to "dead as a dodo".

Try a new battery.

That would be my diagnostic as well. After it goes dead, did you try turning it off and then on again? If it stay dead or if it turn on but dies really soon after, then it's a good indication of an old battery.
