I just bought a Sony TRV 350 after researching its capabilities of playing analog and digital tapes. I need to play and convert my old 8mm tapes and HI8 tapes to my computer so I can burn dvds. I have a DVDRW. When I connect the camera to the computer in the exact steps as outlined in manuals etc it doesnt show up. I did make sure that I had the camcorder set to USB streaming on also. I have tried disconnecting the other USB device in use, all other steps and it doesnt connect. Any ideas on how to get the computer recognize the USB?
If I do get it connected the next step is I would like to (for now) just put the videos on my harddrive (its way big enough) and eventually burn them all to DVD. I suppose I will try to use windows movie maker.
My computer operates on Windows XP svs pack 2 and I dont have a firewire connection just USB ports. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am trying to get all the home movies on the computer.
