Hi everyone,
I just pulled my old Sony TRV18 off the shelf and connected it to use as a webcam. I able to stream video via USB, but the camera powers itself down every 5 mins. This is supposedly a power saving feature provided by Sony.
I currently have the camera connected to usb and to the provided AC adapter. The battery has been removed. As I said, this setup works nicely with the exception of the power saving "feature". What a bummer.
Does anyone know how to disable the PS feature on this camera?
Thanks

Is there a tape in your camcorder? Sony camcorders usually shuts down after 5 minutes to prevent wearing out the tape. However, we found that without a tape in the camcorder, it won't turn off. At least that's the case with our DCR-TRV350. Hopefully that's the case with your DCR-TRV18 as well. The use of Memory Stick also does not cause the camcorder to shut down. Hope that helps.
