Windows Vista Cannot Detect DCR-HC32 via Firewire

I have a Sony Handycam DCR-HC32 NTSC. I am unable to download videos from my handycam to my laptop computer with Vista on it. I have a iLink cable & downloaded PMB. When I connect this camara with my computer it do not detects it, this error message comes up "unable to detect camara". my question is this that what should the settings on my laptop or what do I need to do, to make it work. Needs help, please.

Take a look at the Device Manager. Does your Sony camcorder show up in the Device Manager? If so, does it have a yellow exclamation mark? If so, then there is a problem with the driver or communication with the camcorder; at least the computer see the camcorder. But if you don't see anything at all with regards to your camcorder in the Device manager, then the computer does not see your camcorder. It could be one of these problems:

  1. Camcorder is not turned on.
  2. The Firewire cable is broken.
  3. The Firewire port on the camcorder is broken.
  4. The Firewire port on your computer is broken.
  5. The Firewire driver for your computer is having a problem.
