problem with IEEE 1394 i-link cable

Read with interest your forum regarding transfer of video from handycam to vista.

I have a sony handycam DCR-HC32. Its docking station is DCRA-C121. My handycam does not have a i-Link port while the docking station has one. I have sony Vaio Laptop VGN-SZ56GN with vista OS. when I connect my laptop to handycam through firewire cable , I initially get good streaming but after 10/15 seconds the connection is lost and message appears stating that check the connection to handycam. If I remove the cable and insert it again , it again works for 2/3 sec and then stop again. I have tried both picture motion browser and adobe premier elements.
Please Help!!!
